KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The Knox County court system gave a big send-off to a long-serving judge.

A long receiving line snaked through the court room during a reception Friday morning for Judge Wheeler Rosenbalm, hosted by the Knoxville Bar Association.

Wheeler is retiring from the circuit court bench.

Judge Rosenbalm has been serving since 1990 and said his career has been a great experience.

"I reached the age of 75 a few days ago and thought perhaps it might be a good time to change pace and spend more time with my family and do some of those things that I've been doing over the years but didn't seem to every get my fill of doing enough," Judge Rosenbalm said.

Judge Rosenbalm also said stepping down lets someone have the opportunity to preside over the court and hopefully make people's lives better.

Rosenbalm's retirement begins Jan 1, 2013.
