Virginia man injured in Little River Road car wreck


TOWNSEND (WATE) - A Virginia man was airlifted via Lifestar to UT Medical Center after being injured in a single-vehicle accident on Saturday afternoon, according to Great Smoky Mountains National Park spokeswoman Dana Soehn.

The accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Little River Road between the Sinks and Meigs Falls, about one-half of a mile west of the Sinks.

The man, 19, was a passenger in a pickup truck with two other male occupants, according to Soehn. 

The vehicle was traveling east on Little River Road,  ran off the roadway and then hit a tree on the passenger's side.

The driver and second passenger in the car were not injured in the accident.

Soehn said the 19-year-old was listed in very serious condition as of Sunday morning.
