Police investigate armed robberies at 2 sandwich shops


KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Knoxville Police are investigating a pair of armed robberies at sandwich shops that occurred within half an hour of each other Sunday evening.

The first one happened just after 7:30 p.m. at Lenny's Sub Shop. That's on the 9000 block of Kingston Pike. 

Employees there told police that two unknown men entered the business with handguns demanding cash. The suspects then fled the building.

The second armed robbery took place at Nixon's Deli on the 500 block of Merchants Drive just after 8 p.m.

Employees said a man entered the restaurant with a screwdriver demanding cash. He then took off on foot. 

Both investigations are ongoing.
