GATLINBURG (WATE) - Thanks to the generosity of a WATE viewer, Christmas came early on Monday for four men left without a paycheck after being abandoned by their employer.
A contractor who wants to remain anonymous gave each man a gift of $500.
Brian Reischman refused to pay his crew after they had worked on a condominium in Gatlinburg. Reischman told his workers he had not paid.
But managers at the condo confirmed to Six on Your Side that Reischman received more than $70,000 for improvements to several buildings.
A contractor who saw the story last week said he wanted the men to know there are honest businessmen who respect the hard labor of their employees.
"For such a generous act, it's not every day that people do something like that for people you don't even know, so thank you," said employee David Blalock.
For another employee, the extra funds will really help.
"A whole lot," said Michael Johnson. "I can finish doing my Christmas shopping that I had to put on hold."
"I'd like to say we appreciate him giving us this. It will help us out a whole lot," said Tee Davis.
The men told Consumer Investigator Don Dare the contractor's generosity will brighten the Christmas season for their families since they had been unpaid for weeks.
