BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (WATE) - Five people were killed in Kentucky on Christmas Eve in a head-on collision on a local highway.
According to Kentucky State Police, a 2004 Ford Taurus driven by David Vanderpool of Williamsburg, Ky. was driving north on Highway 25E when he crossed the center median just after 5:00 p.m.
Driving south was Gary Caldwell, 61, of Putney, Ky.
Vanderpool's vehicle crossed the center lane and struck Caldwell's 2010 Toyota Camry head on.
Because of the severity of the crash, no one survived.
In addition to Vanderpool and Caldwell, Patricia Caldwell, 58, of Putney, Ky., Julia Robinson, 29, of Bradenton, Fla., and Brent Robinson, 30, also of Bradenton, Fla. were also killed.
Vanderpool and the Robinsons were not wearing seatbelts.
Highway 25E was closed for almost five hours while police investigated the crash.
