KNOXVILLE (WATE) - One person is dead after an early morning crash on Thursday in East Knoxville.

Officers say Jeffery Snyder, 51, of Knoxville was cresting a hill around 5:45 a.m. on Delrose Drive near Riverside Road in his 2001 Dodge Ram when he saw a 1997 Lincoln traveling east in the westbound lane.

Snyder told police he tried to avoid hitting the Lincoln, driven by Daniel Lundy, 22, of Knoxville, but was unsuccessful.

Lundy died on the way to UT Medical Center.

Snyder suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital as well.
