KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Not a single restaurant failed its inspection this week, but that's not to say that some didn't come close.
Lowest Score:
McDonald's, 1720 Cumberland Avenue - Grade: 72
Keep in mind, 70 is the lowest score a restaurant can receive and still pass.
The inspector noted a dirty ice dispenser. There were also chemicals stored in the wrong place as well as food and cups stored under sewer lines.
The inspector also noticed a cook who did not wash his hands after handling raw beef.
Other low scores:
Zaxby's, 2024 Cumberland Avenue - Grade: 74
That's another passing grade, but there are critical violations.
Fruit flies were found in the restaurant. Also, a bulk food container was not labeled properly.
Some raw chicken was not stored at the proper temperature, and the inspector found mold on a self-serve ice machine.
Top scores:
- Melinda's Country Cooking, 465 Park 40 North - Grade: 99
- Volunteer Princess, 956 Volunteer Landing - Grade: 99
- Soccer Taco, 6701 Kingston Pike - Grade: 99
- Hilltop Vineyard, 6535 Kingston Pike - Grade: 98
- Hibachi Factory, 1815 Cumberland Avenue - Grade: 96
- Chipotle Mexican Grill, 1701 Cumberland Avenue - Grade: 96
- Icearium Concession Stand, 110 South Watt Road - Grade: 96
- Jacob's Time Out, 5307 Middlebrook Pike - Grade: 96
Those scores in the 90s are outstanding, especially the two almost perfect scores we saw this week.
