LENOIR CITY (WATE) - A Lenoir City man is facing charges for calling in a bomb threat at a local courthouse in an attempt to avoid appearing before a judge.

Christopher Ryan Herman, 27, was supposed to be in court on Dec. 12.

Police say he used a friend's cell phone to call in a bomb threat at the Loudon County Justice Center and threatened the life of a local judge.

Herman admitted to making the calls so he wouldn't have to go to jail that day on theft charges, according to police.
