BRISTOL (WATE) - The Endangered Child Alert that was issued Monday morning for a Bristol boy has since been canceled.

One-year-old Dakota James Smith was reported missing by his mother on Dec. 29 when his non-custodial father, Tayler James Smith, 22, said he was taking Dakota to see family in the area.

On Dec. 31, Smith sent the mother a text message stating he was not returning with the child.

After issuing an Endangered Child Alert on Monday, Dakota was recovered and found safe.

Tayler Smith was also arrested.
