KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A worker was killed in Knoxville on Monday after receiving a high-voltage electrical shock, according to Knoxville police.

The incident took place around noon at the Kuwahee Wastewater Treatment Plant near Fort Loudon Lake on Neyland Drive, where a major plant construction project has been underway for several months.

The worker was an employee of W&O Construction Company and a KUB spokesperson said he had been performing construction at the site.

Rural/Metro said he was transported as an emergency patient to University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he later died.

"KUB employees send their thoughts and prayers to the W & O employee and his
family," the company said in a news release.

W and O Construction Company and the Knoxville Fire Department had no comment on the accident.
