KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The two men that robbed a Cocke County bank and stole a police officer's service weapon may be connected to another robbery in Georgia.
An FBI spokesperson said they are looking into a connection between the men who robbed the Newport branch of Tennessee State Bank and the suspects in a Gainesville, Ga. robbery.
The spokesperson said they routinely look at other crimes in nearby areas and compare the style and motive of the crimes to determine if the suspects were involved in other crimes.
They said they were working with the Atlanta branch of the FBI because of similarities between the two cases.
The two suspects are still on the run following the Dec. 26 robbery. The men have been described as "bold and dangerous."
