KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Knoxville motorists should expect some delays on certain roads in Knoxville on Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Provision Health Alliance will move a 218 ton cyclotron from Forks of the River Industrial Park to Dowell Springs Business Park at only 5 to 7mph.
The cyclotron is being relocated to the Center for Proton Therapy, and it will be carried on a truck and trailer.
Due to the size of the equipment, the move requires transportation planning.
Knoxville Communications said in a press release this is the route being used to transport the cyclotron: "North National Drive to Asheville Highway; west on Asheville Highway/Magnolia Avenue to Hall of Fame Drive; right on Hall of Fame to Gill Avenue; left on Gill Avenue to East 4th Avenue; left on East 4th Avenue to North Central Street; right on North Central Street to Bernard Avenue; left on Bernard Avenue to University Avenue; left on University Avenue/Middlebrook Pike to Dowell Springs Drive (west of Weisgarber Road)."
There will be escort vehicles for the trailer, and the Knox County Sheriff's Office will assist.
