3 arrested in connection with 12 illegal gambling machines

MIDDLESBORO, Ky. (WATE) - Three people were arrested on Wednesday afternoon for promoting gambling in the first degree, according to Kentucky State Police.

These arrests are in connection with 12 illegal gambling machines that were seized on Monday from the Cumberland Market.

The three owners of the Cumberland Market, Joseph Akers, 36, Harold Wayne Woodward, 42, and Dallas Shackelford, 79, all of Middlesboro, were arrested and lodged in the Bell County Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing.
