KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Several Knox County students will be switching schools come August due to a county rezoning initiative.

Several of those students got to visit their soon-to-be new classrooms on Thursday evening.

Schools affected by the rezoning include: A.L. Lotts Elementary, Ball Camp Elementary, Cedar Bluff Elementary, Farragut Primary, and Farragut Intermediate.

Parents say they have mixed emotions.

"We were definitely a little nervous about it. We had our concerns, but we've been really impressed with the tour so far," said parent Chris Cook.

"It's going to be the beginning of the school year, it's a new classroom, no matter where they are. So just to make sure they feel welcome and a part of the class, we try to make them feel like they're family and not just at school," said first grade teacher Katie Gagley.

Officials say that students transferring schools will go with at least one other student from their current class.
