OAK RIDGE (WATE) - An Oak Ridge High School student was arrested Thursday for punching a female officer, according to Anderson County officials.

Christopher Lee Arwood, 18, was being disorderly in the school cafeteria and threatened a teacher with violence.

Sherrill Shelby, the school resource officer, tried to intervene and escort him out of the cafeteria.

Arwood became more enraged and then punched Shelby on the left side of her face.  Shelby suffered minor injuries.

Officer Shelby was in a full uniform at the time, and she is also the full-time school resource officer for Oak Ridge High School.

Arwood was charged with assault on a police officer.
