MEMPHIS (AP) - Three apparently unrelated homicides within 13 hours have Memphis Mayor A C Wharton saying gun violence in the city must stop.
The Commercial Appeal reported a 31-year-old man was pronounced dead at a hospital early Sunday from a gunshot wound. Police found he had been shot while airing up a car tire at a convenience store.
Just before 1 p.m., Memphis Police were called to a home to find a 20-year-old man had been shot to death.
Barely a half-hour later, a man was reported shot in North Memphis. He later died at a hospital
Wharton said he wants stiffer punishment for people who commit crimes with stolen guns and higher bonds to keep them locked up.
