Roane County man shoots, kills son during domestic dispute


OLIVER SPRINGS (WATE) - A Roane County man shot and killed his son Sunday during a domestic dispute.

Roane County Sheriff Jack Stockton says that the shooting happened at 4:46 p.m. at the home of Vincent Brown on Old Harriman Highway in Oliver Springs.

According to the sheriff, Brown's son, Michael Brown, arrived at the home and was apparently upset. The sheriff said Michael is known to have a drug problem. 

Witnesses said Michael started to engage in a fight with the father. 

At some point during the dispute, Vincent shot Michael in the torso. Michael died as a result.

Vincent also suffered some minor scrapes, bruises and abrasions in the altercation.

The Roane County Sheriff's Office, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Roane County District Attorney's office is investigating the incident as a case of self-defense.
