Driver flees after hitting homeless man on Knoxville street

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A hit-and-run accident on a Knoxville street late Wednesday has left a homeless man in stable condition in a hospital. 

Police say Jerry Kidd, 55, was walking or standing on East Magnolia Avenue near North Castle Street shortly after 11 p.m. when an unknown driver in a blue minivan struck the pedestrian.

The driver did not give information or help the injured pedestrian, but instead fled the scene. Police say the driver may have been a woman, but they were unable to provide an description.

Kidd was taken to UT Medical Center.
