KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Two people were injured Monday night in a Cumberland Avenue shooting.

The shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Zaxby's restaurant at 2024 Cumberland Avenue following an altercation between two men.

Erreese King, 23, was injured by gunfire, so friends took him to Fort Sanders Medical Center. Police said he had non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the suspects and victim were not affiliated with the University of Tennessee, but a fight near campus led to the shooting.

The second person involved, Anthony Davis, 19, left the scene and drove to Arbor Place Apartments on the 700 block of Townview Drive before calling police.

Davis was also taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Police said King was uncooperative with investigators and indicated he would not prosecute anyone, but investigators were continuing to interview him on Tuesday.

Both males have lengthy criminal records.

King has previously been charged with multiple aggravated robberies, multiple weapons charges, multiple evading arrest charges, multiple driving-related charges, aggravated burglary, theft, and multiple drug possession charges.

Davis has previously been charged with weapons charges, drug possession charges, multiple theft charges, evading arrest, and driving-related charges.
