SEVIERVILLE (WATE) - Sevier County, with its winding mountain roads, definitely had some problems Friday with the ice storm that passed through East Tennessee. Emergency crews spent their time trying to keep up with the accident reports.

There was a solid sheet of ice covering one sharp curve on Hardin Lane, just outside the Sevierville city limits. Unfortunately, Mike McQueen didn't see it until it was too late.

"It just instantly turned from no ice to ice and though I was creeping, going very slow, there's just enough of a slope in the road itself that I just slid right off the road into the ditch," said McQueen, the owner of American Mountain Rentals.

He was out checking road conditions to see which of his cabins were accessible.

"I really thought I was going to turn completely over. A couple of saplings did catch me," he said.

He wasn't the only one to go off the road in that spot. Another car and a wrecker coming to rescue it also ended up in the ditch.

Luckily, no one was hurt.
