KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A man attempted to rob a South Knoxville business on Sunday morning, according to what witnesses told the Knoxville Police Department.
A white male entered the Dollar General store, located on the 4200 block of Chapman Highway, around 9:30 a.m.
The suspect asked a customer where the clerk was, and he was directed to the manager who was stocking shelves.
The suspect told the manager to open the safe, but the manager told him he would not.
In response, the suspect told him he had a knife but the manager said he had a bigger one and put his hand in his pocket.
The suspect then fled from the business towards downtown. He did not take anything from the business.
Police said the suspect was wearing a dark hoody, dark jeans, bright white tennis shoes and a ski mask or wrestling mask.
