KNOXVILLE (WATE) - One person was killed and three were injured Tuesday morning when two vehicles collided in north Knoxville.

According to witnesses, a 2005 Nissan Altima was driving south on Plummer Road when it came to a stop at the stop sign at Dutch Valley Drive.

A 2002 Dodge Durango was driving west on Dutch Valley Drive when the Altima pulled onto Dutch Valley Drive into the path of the Durango. The Durango then hit the Altima.

The driver of the Altima was taken to University of Tennessee Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries.

Beth Scates, 32, the driver of the Durango, Trey Scates, 6, and Tatam Carter, 3, both passengers in the Durango, were all hospitalized for minor injuries.

Scates was not wearing a seat belt and the two children were not properly restrained at the time of the accident.

Charges are pending.
