Hotter Today but Bigger Rain Chances by the Weekend

Dontae Jones Dontae Jones
GREENVILLE, N.C. - Good Morning! I'm WNCT 9 First Alert Meteorologist Dontae Jones with your forecast for eastern North Carolina.

THIS MORNING: Skies will be mostly clear this morning with calm winds.  Temperatures to start the day will once again be comfortable with lower to mid 60s inland and near 70 along the coast.

THIS AFTERNOON:  Higher humidity with higher temperatures will mean a hotter day across eastern NC.  Inland afternoon highs will be in the upper 80s but feel like the 90s.  Coastal temperatures will top out in the mid 80s.  Expect a slight chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm, mainly for inland sections.

TONIGHT: Partly to mostly cloudy skies will take us through the overnight. We'll have a slight chance for a rain shower. Temperatures will be a little warmer thanks to the cloud cover, we'll call for overnight lows in the upper 60s inland and lower to mid 70s along the coast.

TROPICS: A tropical wave in the eastern Atlantic Ocean still has a medium chance for development over the next few days. It has a 50 percent chance of becoming a tropical depression within the next 48 hours. We have plenty of time to monitor this system as it is still far away from the United States.

A LOOK AHEAD:  Another batch of showers and storms will impact the end of the work week and the upcoming weekend. Some of us could see several inches of rain through the weekend, causing some localized flooding.
