KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A job fair was held Monday in Knoxville to help local veterans find full time jobs.

More than 60 employers were at the Hire Our Heroes at the Knoxville Convention Center.

Organizers say with the rough economy, those returning from Afghanistan and Iraq may have a hard time finding steady employment.

Events like this, they say, help showcase a variety of jobs available for veterans and military spouses of all ranks and levels of experience.

"I've been self employed for about 18 years and done some time in the National Guard. And as a veteran, I'm a little disabled, so trying to find a good, reputable company I can get with and have a stable work environment and see what's offered in this economy," said veteran Jeff Nuchols.

"We are here to help you. Whether you need help starting a business, or you want more education, we're here to help you," said Hire Our Heroes program coordinator Candice Trent.

Organizers estimate 3,000 veterans attended the job fair.

Any veterans who missed the fair and are looking for a job can find additional resources including a job board on the Tennessee Veterans Business Association website.
