SEYMOUR (WATE) - A man is dead after he called 911 Wednesday night and said he had been shot in his Seymour home.
Capt. Jeff McCarter, with the Sevier County Sheriff's Office, says when deputies and paramedics arrived shortly after 6 p.m. at the home on Estates Drive Donald Gregory, 64, was already dead.
About that same time two women showed up at the Sevier County Sheriff's Office. One woman said she had shot her husband is self defense during a domestic dispute.
The other woman said she was the victim's daughter.
Investigators say they're still trying to piece together what led to the shooting.
An autopsy will be performed at the UT Forensics Center in Knoxville.
Neighbors say they are shocked.
"I'm just disappointed to see that happen, especially in a quiet place like Estates Drive. It's troubling news," said Matthew Hess.
