MARYVILLE (WATE) - Emergency patients were diverted from Blount Memorial Hospital for several hours on Thursday.
Between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., patients were being diverted to other hospitals in the area.
A hospital spokesperson said the diversion was due to a high patient volume situation. All emergency transport patients
were sent to other facilities.
The move was necessary because the hospital saw a variety of different critical patients within a 24-hour time frame.
The capacity of the hospital
is 304 beds, plus space available for extra patients.
