Gatlinburg crews extinguish restaurant fire


GATLINBURG (WATE) - Firefighters extinguished flames at a restaurant on the Parkway on Saturday morning, according to Assistant Chief Charlie Cole of the Gatlinburg Fire Department.

Cole said it happened around 7 a.m. at the Shoney's on the Parkway.

Crews put out a fire in the heating and air unit in the restaurant.  There were minor damages, such as smoke and water.

Officials were on the scene until around noon.  The Gatlinburg Police Department assisted with directing traffic. 

No injuries were reported. 

Cole said he did not know when the restaurant will reopen.
