WAVERLY, Tenn. (AP) - Police are investigating after a female body was found along Interstate 40 in Humphreys County.
Investigators told WSMV-TV (http://bit.ly/W8y4aV) that a trucker called police after seeing the body around 6:30 a.m. Saturday near mile marker 137. Detectives closed the westbound lanes of the interstate until around 1 p.m. to gather evidence.
Police said the woman was from Nashville, but did not release her identity pending notification of kin.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol says it appears the woman's car broke down and she left the vehicle, but it was unclear how she got into the median and how she died.
