KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The King's Academy has hired its second football coach in less than a month-- and this time he comes with a local connection.
Matt Lowe, who guided Powell to the Class 5A state title game in 2011 has been hired to coach the Lions.
TAK headmaster Walter Grubb and athletic director Marc Weekly made the announcement on Wednesday night.
"Matt has a real vision and plan for not only football but all sports at TKA," says Weekly. "He knows that success on the field starts with preparation. His role in developing our indoor facility will give him a distinct advantage for that preparation."
On January 15, TKA announced the hiring of former NFL player and Division I assistant coach Ken Karcher. The school says they were notified by Karcher a week later that he intended to take a coaching position at a junior college in Mississippi.
The King's Academy will begin play at the TSSAA level in the fall of 2013.
