Three people rescued after getting lost in the woods

CLINTON (WATE) - Three family members spent a cold night in the woods of Anderson Co. after they became lost during an ATV ride.

A grandfather, father and son from what's known as the "Frost Bottom Area" went out for an afternoon ride on Friday. They left their home just after 4 p.m. During the ride, the three became lost in the woods and couldn't find their way back.

The family spent the cold night in the woods, where temperatures dipped down into the low 30's and high 20's.

On Saturday morning, several rescue crews went looking for the three. They were found near the Windrock ATV Lodge.

Anderson County Rescue Chief Terry Allen tells 6 News the grandfather suffered from minor hypothermia, but he declined medical treatment.
