KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Vols fans say they expected a win Saturday afternoon against rival Kentucky, but admit they weren't expecting the a 30 point blowout.
"I was a little surprised by the blowout, but... We knew we were going to win though. We knew we were going to win," said UT students Leonardo Lapidario and Gunnar Chatfield.
"I thought Tennessee had a pretty good chance to win, but I don't think anybody saw this coming," said UT fan Gary Woolfolk.
The Vol faithful say the victory is extra sweet.
"Whenever Kentucky comes in to Knoxville, it's a big game, and everybody kind of really gets hyped up for it so to come out with a win of 30 points, it's a great victory for us and it's a good starting point for the rest of the season," said UT junior Chris Baird.
No matter what section they were in, fans were glad to have been at the game.
"We came in probably 30 seconds after it started, and within the first few minutes we were already building that lead. So kind of by the end of it, I thought are they going to start coming back? Is this going to change? I didn't expect it to carry on," said UT student Austin Owen.
Now, fans are setting their sights on the future.
"If they play like this the whole way, hopefully we can do something in the SEC tournament, and make our way to the NCAA tournament," Lapidario added.
Before that, Vols fans are looking for another big win against LSU on Tuesday night.
