Power cut after fire breaks out in West Knoxville


KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Residents will be spending Saturday night without heat, after the power was cut during a fire inside an apartment complex. 

Shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday, firefighters responded to a small fire at the Crossroads apartments on Brentway Circle. 

Residents of the apartment with the fire say they had been cooking earlier in the evening and forgot to turn the stove off.

Five units were affected by smoke.

Crews had to shut power off to the building, affected all 48 units. 

Maintenance workers are trying to restore utilities to the building. The American Red Cross was called to the scene to aid residents if needed.
