KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A man who suffers from a mental disability and had been missing nearly a week was found safe Monday night in Nashville.

D'Andre Whitfield, 22, was last seen by his mother on Tuesday at his home on Morgan Springs Way in North Knoxville.

He was reported missing on Wednesday.

Knoxville police say Whitfield was located in a Nashville rescue mission. Metro-Nashville police officers located him and verified he was unharmed.

Whitfield's mother says he has been diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic and is often misunderstood as offending other people.
