ETOWAH (WATE) - A mother and her six-year-old daughter were killed Wednesday in a two-vehicle crash in McMinn County. Three other members of the family were injured.
The crash happened on U.S. Highway 411, just south of Etowah.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol report says the family's car pulled onto the highway and was struck on the driver's side by a tow truck driven by Larry Chambers, 57.
Authorities say the car spun before sliding down an embankment.
The driver of the sedan, 27-year-old Linda Bloom, of Delano, and six-year-old Cayla Bloom died from their injuries.
The three injured family members are David Bloom, 28, Dawson Bloom, 10, and Kadin Pike, 7. They were taken to UT Medical Center in Knoxville.
The tow truck driver was not injured.
McMinn County investigators are trying to figure out how a woman was shot while driving her car Monday morning. It happened on County Road 139 just before 9 am. That's when a bullet flew
