Pigeon Forge rakes in record tourism profits in 2012

PIGEON FORGE (WATE) - The city of Pigeon Forge made record profits from tourism in 2012.

Gross receipts from last year totaled more than $905 million, a gain of nearly $75 million from 2011.

Mayor David Wear announced the numbers at Thursday's State of the City address.

Pigeon Forge's two largest business sectors saw substantial increases.

Amusements were up 14 percent, while lodging was up 11 percent.
