Two die in three-car crash in Hamblen County


MORRISTOWN (WATE) - Two people died and one person was hospitalized after a three-car crash in Hamblen County.

The accident happened Friday morning around 7:30 a.m. on West Andrew Johnson Highway, near West Economy Road in Morristown.

James Lakin, 73, of Morristown and Brent Michael Bennett, 27, of Morristown, were killed.

A 16-year-old male suffered from injuries that were not life-threatening and was transported to a local hospital.

Dispatchers said they believe Lakin was lost consciousness while driving and veered into the pathway of Bennett's vehicle.

No other details about the accident have been released.
