East Knox County Civil War clothing business gutted by fire

STRAWBERRY PLAINS (WATE) - Crews battled a fire that gutted a Civil War clothing business Saturday night.

According to New Market Volunteer Fire Department Capt. Sammy Solomon, the fire broke out at K & M Co. just before 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The business is located along the 3000 block of Old Andrew Johnson Highway in Strawberry Plains.

Firefighters say the structure is still standing, but the inside is destroyed.

Authorities tell 6 News the business owner was out of town at the time of the fire. There have been no other reports of injuries.

The cause into the fire is still under investigation.
