KNOXVILLE (WATE) - East Tennessee rolled out its own red carpet Sunday night in downtown Knoxville.

Dozens of people attended a special screening of the Academy Awards at the Regal Riviera movie theater. It was the only Oscar-sanctioned party in Knoxville.

6 News anchor Lori Tucker was the emcee of the event which served as a fund-raiser for Variety Children's Charity of Eastern Tennessee.

All the money raised from the event will go to help children with disabilities.

"Wheelchairs, walkers, special adaptive bikes, some prosthetic limbs, just anything that will help the children be mobile," explained Carol Fusco.

The Knoxville Oscar party raised $16,000.
