TAZEWELL (WATE) - A former LaFollette police officer who was on the TBI's Most Wanted list was set to enter a plea deal Monday, but changed his mind and is now going to trial.

Michael Shane Baker, 39, is charged with 22 counts of especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor and 22 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

He was on the run from July to October of last year.

Officials say he had been hiding out in the mountains before deciding to turn himself in to authorities in Claiborne County.

Baker's charges stem from an investigation that exposed alleged inappropriate contact with an underage girl through webcams and text messages.

Since Baker backed out of the plea deal, his trial is now scheduled for July.
