Two arrested in Cocke County meth bust

NEWPORT (WATE) - Two people were arrested Wednesday in Newport after police found meth-making materials at a home where small children lived.

Cocke County deputies responded to a home on Orchard View Drive on Wednesday morning to investigate a tip that meth was being made on the property.

After deputies obtained a search warrant, they found several pieces of drug paraphernalia as well as tubing, beakers, funnels, muratic acid and other materials used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.

Rebecca Ledbetter, 51, and Dustin Bledsoe, 24, were arrested at the scene on charges of promotion of meth and child abuse.

Another woman, Kindra Smith, was also arrested on a theft-related charge.

The sheriff's office said they planned to make additional arrests for meth manufacturing related to the case.

Two small children were living inside the home. They were put in the custody of their grandmother and the Department of Children's Services was called.

The Tennessee Meth Task Force was called in to clean up the property.
