KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Women from all over East Tennessee are making their way to an event that is tailored just for them.

The Women Today Expo is going on at the Knoxville Convention Center.

The event has been 20 years in the making. For a lot of the women that come out, it's all about tradition, seeing some of the vendors that are targeting them.

From food to pampering to jewelry, the expo is once again giving women lots of attention and information to improve their lifestyle.

Attendees got an early start Friday morning, ahead of the event.

"About 8:45," said Sallie Orns of Oak Ridge. "We just like to get here early when it opens, get the good stuff, and get here before it gets crowded.

Mother and daughter team Sallie Orns and Beverly Lindsey have been faithful to the event for the last six years.

"Oh my gosh, just so much fun. Just seeing different vendors that you normally wouldn't see at other conventions and things like that," Orns said.

Lindsey even found an unusual jewelry item that caught both her and her daughter's eye.

"I bought a toe ring, too," she said. "So, yes, I enjoy seeing her and just the different things they have."

A big draw is some of the stage presentations.

Dr. Lori, who appears on the Discovery Channel's Auction Kings, was there to give free appraisals, with a splash of comedy, of potentially valuable items East Tennessee women brought from home.

"I normally come to the expo, but this brought me early this morning," said Selma Norton of Powell.

Selma Norton showed us an heirloom purse passed down through her husband's family. It turned out to be worth a little something.

"It's worth about $90," she said.

That alone made her annual trip to the Women Today Expo worthwhile.

The Expo runs through Sunday, March 3.
