Knoxville woman shows utility bill to convince robbers to leave

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Police are on the lookout for two men who forced their way into a Knoxville home Thursday evening. One person was shot. Another convinced the robbers to leave in an unusual way.

Officers say the two suspects forced their way into the home on Woodbine Avenue in East Knoxville at 7:45 p.m.when one of the victims opened the door to walk outside.

One of the suspects pointed a handgun at Darrell Pitts, 52, forcing him to the ground. The suspect then approached Ashley Starrett, 28, and demanded money.

A third person inside the home,  ran to a bedroom and closed the door. The second suspect followed and forced the bedroom door open. A struggle ensued and the suspect's handgun was fired.

The two kept struggling before the gun was fired again, this time hitting Feaster in the back.

Feaster was taken to the hospital.

Meanwhile, the second suspect continued to demand for money from. She emptied several medicine bottles into his hands. He became agitated and demanded "the big money." She said she didn't have any, and showed him an overdue utility bill as evidence.

Both suspects then fled the scene. They are described as black men in their 20s. They were dressed in black clothing and wore hooded sweatshirts.

One of the men is about 5'10" with an average build. The other is described as 6' and thin.

Police say the suspect got away with a small amount of cash, Oxycodone pills, and Diazepam pills.
