Suspects describe conflicting stories to officers about knife fight

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Knoxville Police are investigating conflicting stories after a couple got into a knife fight.

It happened around 5:30 Friday evening at an East Summitt Hill Dr. apartment complex. That's located between Hall of Fame Dr. and East Hill Ave.

When officers arrived, they found a woman with cuts on her hand.

According to the woman, she and her boyfriend were arguing when he became violent. They were involved in a physical fight in the bedroom for a brief period of time. The boyfriend then left the bedroom.

Later on, she says he came back with a kitchen knife, forcing the bedroom door open. She was able to take the knife from him. He then left a second time.

According to the woman, the man then came back again, with another kitchen knife. They again began to argue. When the man tried to leave, the woman followed him outside and slashed a tire on his vehicle. He drove off despite the damage.

Later in the evening, officers responded to a stabbing call with the victim at Fort Sanders Hospital. Officers say the victim was the same man from the domestic dispute earlier.

According to the man, his girlfriend became angry because he would not give her his prescription pain medication. He claims she left the bedroom, then came back with two knives and cut him on his right arm and his hand. As he fled the apartment, she chased him and stabbed one of his tires.

Police are investigating both stories. Details on exactly what happened have yet to be determined.
