KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A Knoxville resident was sent to the hospital Tuesday night after three armed men forced their way into the victim's home.

The home invasion happened around 9:15 p.m. on the 2700 block of Barton Street, near Washington Pike and Fairview.

Knoxville police say three males first knocked on the door, and when the homeowner Jason Spiller's daughter answered, they pushed their way into the house and demanded money.

One suspect struck Spiller, 38, on the top of the head, cutting him.

He gave the suspects money. One then shot at the house as they fled the house.

Police say the suspects were driving a white sports utility vehicle.

The three suspects are described as black males in dark clothing. Two were wearing ski masks and carried semi-automatic pistols. The third suspect is described as having a medium build.

Spiller was transported to Physicians Regional Hospital. His injuries were not thought to be life threatening injuries.
