KNOXVILLE (WATE) - State and local officials gathered Friday to "get on the same page" about issues with the intersections of some busy Knox County roads.
They're focusing on the Pellissippi Parkway-Hardin Valley Road interchange and the area around Solway Road at Oak Ridge Highway.
A Pellissippi-Hardin Valley off ramp was the site of a crash last year that killed a 21-year-old.
His loved-ones gathered last month at the site - lobbying for a change to the roadway.
Knox County Commissioner Brad Anders met with TDOT to talk about possible fixes in the area.
The northwest part of the county has seen major growth in recent years at the same time plans for a proposed new route have gone away.
"The orange route was going to some of the things create some interchanges that were going to solve some of these problems," Anders said. "Since the orange route is gone and TDOT is reworking some things, hopefully they've got some things on their calendar, so we want to see where they're at and see how the county can partner up with them."
Anders and others tossed around several ideas, such as changing the on and off ramps to Pellissippi Parkway.
