Campus police bust students stealing from Stokely Athletic Center

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Five University of Tennessee students were arrested over the weekend after campus police saw them taking items from Stokely Athletic Center.

Around 12:35 a.m. on Sunday, UT police responded to the building after motion alarms were activated.

When officers went inside, they witnessed five students carrying items that belonged in the athletic center, including licensed clothing items that were taken from two secure rooms.

The total value of the items taken was more than $13,000.

Police also found that the students had damaged $450 worth of UT property in order to access the items.

Nicholas Barth, 19, Michael Aleman, 20, Adam Armstrong, 19, Michael Clendonen, 20, and David Bryan were arrested and charged with theft over $500 and burglary.
