ALCOA (WATE) - An Alcoa man is dead after falling off the roof of a moving vehicle.

David Harold Chandler, Jr., 37, was pronounced dead at University of Tennessee Medical Center Monday morning.

The Blount County Sheriff's Office said Chandler was standing on top of a moving 2002 Toyota Sienna van on Cloyds Church Road at around 9:30 Sunday night when he fell off the vehicle onto the left side of the roadway as the vehicle rounded a right curve.

Chandler then slid about 29 feet before landing in the middle of the roadway.

He was driven to Blount Memorial Hospital and was then transferred to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

The driver of the Sienna, Patrick Richard Borden, 20, of Friendsville, was charged with reckless endangerment.

He is being held in the Blount County Detention Facility on a $1,500 bond and is also being held without bond on two charges of violation of probation.
