KNOXVILLE (WATE) - An argument between two homeless men in Knoxville ended early Tuesday when one of them was stabbed.

A Knoxville police officer and a University of Tennessee police officer found Earl Smith, Jr., 53, with a stab wound when they reached him just before 1:30 a.m. at Bridge Avenue and 13th Street.

Smith told the officers he got into an argument with another homeless man near the Valarium when the man pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed him in his right arm.

Smith refused to provide additional details and said he didn't want to prosecute.

He was taken to UT Medical Center for his minor wound.

Police were unable to locate the suspect. They say he is described as a bald white male and about 40 years old. He is 5'9" and weighs about 120 lbs.
