KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A fire that burned a Knoxville home Tuesday may have been started by someone illegally living there.

Knoxville firefighters were called just before 7:30 p.m. to the fire at the corner of Cherry Street and Jefferson Avenue.

The structure was supposed to be vacant and had no power, leading officials to believe someone illegally inhabited the house.

The fire was under control within minutes of the fire department's arrival. Damage was contained to an upper loft.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.

No injuries were reported.
