Man shoots dog in East Knoxville


KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Knoxville police are investigating after a man shot a dog in East Knoxville Wednesday afternoon.

The shooting happened around 3:15 p.m. on Biddle Street.

According to a preliminary investigation, the dog may have approached the man in the road and the man then shot the dog.

The animal did not appear to have been on a leash at the time of the shooting.

Police officers arrived on the scene and discovered the dog, a Rottweiler mix, had been injured after being shot in the snout.

The three-legged dog was alive and reportedly not seriously injured after the incident. The owner took the animal to the University of Tennessee vet hospital for emergency treatment.

The man left the scene after the shooting and was not seen from again.
